In the stock market discussion "When US Recession Will Become Reality" that was held on Friday (15/2) at the Indonesian Stock Exchange Building, Jakarta, Anton H. Gunawan, Director of Citi Country Indonesia said that practioners and policy makers in the US still differ in their views on the recession.


US import is predicted to decline, resulting in the decrease of exports of countries that are US trade partners, including Indonesia. The impact of subprime mortgage crisis is excepted to remain to be felt within the whole of 2008, although not significantly.


Anton adds that Indonesia can protect itself from impact of the US crisis if it can optimize supervision of its financial market and export-import mechanism.
